Privacy Policy

Choo Choo Words ("we", "the app", "the service") is operated by Chyuang. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We try to keep this short and plain.

Short version

• There are no accounts. You just play.
• We store your gameplay (scores, board state) so your run survives a refresh, keyed to an anonymous player token.
• If you subscribe to email updates, we store your email — and only then.
• We don't sell your data and we don't share it with advertisers.
• The iOS app does not run analytics. The website uses Google Analytics for aggregate traffic stats.

What we collect

When you play: scores, the state of your active board, moves, and the puzzle/week identifier — saved against an anonymous player token generated on your device, so you can come back to a run in progress. The token is not tied to your identity.

Leaderboards: your nickname (if you choose to set one), your country (derived from your IP at the time of the run via Cloudflare; we do not store your IP for this purpose), your score, and whether you reached the star.

If you subscribe to updates: your email address and country. We only collect this if you submit the email-signup form.

Why we collect it

• To run the game itself (save your in-progress runs).
• To run leaderboards and show your nickname/country next to your score.
• To send you product updates if you've subscribed (only then).

Analytics

On the website (choochoowords.chyuang.com in a browser) we use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate traffic — page views, devices, rough geography. We do not enable Google Signals or any cross-site advertising features.

In the iOS app we do not run Google Analytics or any third-party analytics SDK. The app is a thin wrapper around the website and we detect the native context to suppress analytics.

Who we share data with

We share data only with infrastructure providers needed to run the service:

• Cloudflare — hosting, edge network, and the database that stores your runs and leaderboard entries.
• Google Analytics — aggregate web traffic only, web only.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Your choices

• Delete your data. Email mail@chyuang.com and we'll remove your scores, leaderboard entries, and any email subscription within 7 days. Include your nickname and the date of the runs if you can — that helps us find them.
• Unsubscribe. Email-update messages include an unsubscribe link.
• Browser controls. You can block analytics scripts via your browser's tracking-protection settings.

Children

The game is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond what's required to play. If you believe a child has shared more, email us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users in-app.
